T-Mobile & Merton (the piano improv guy) Gatwick Welcome Back Video

Following the amazing reception of the London's Heathrow Terminal 5 Welcome Home Ad, taking the T-Mobile flashmob to the next stage in it's 'Life is for sharing' evolution welcome the next installment this time at London's Gatwick Airport. Using the popularity of Merton, who played he's way into the spotlight with his Chat Roulette improvs, T-Mobile have created a new take on the Welcome Back Video (Shown below).

I think this is a fantastic idea, and very well thought out, my only slight concern is that I think an element of charm is lost in this execution. I don't know your thoughts, however I like the risque original videos of Merton which circulated back in March and personally feel that he doesn't seem to be enjoying this as much now there is a logo pinning to his famous green jacket!

T-Mobile flashmob reenacted for Movie

On Sunday last week (16th August), people passing through Liverpool Street station must have thought they were going mad when a reenactment of the T-Mobile flashmob was performed for new film St Trinian's 2: The Legend Of Fritton's Gold.

Led by Girl's Aloud's Sarah Harding and followed by an army of schoolgirls the scene mirrors the T-Mobile flashmob ad recorded in January (Shown below). This is a really interesting take on an idea, which not only has had massive success virally, but has now led to an appearance in the movies.

Abbey Clancy T-Mobile Sing-along

As part of the follow up activity to the 'Life is for Sharing' Trafalgar Square Karaoke on the 30th April this year, T-Mobile have invited folks from all over the UK to have a go at singing along themselves and upload their videos for everyone to see (erm... and hear). The video below shows Abbey Clancy marching round a gym to Britney's 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' using voices from the Trafalgar Square performance.

T-Mobile karaoke aired during Britain's Got Talent

Ok, so on Thursday (April 30th) there was a lot of speculation over what was going down on the T-Mobile front, and I for one was particularly curious to find out how they were going to differentiate their next social engagement 'Life is for sharing' project from all of the copycats we have been seeing recently. Well hats off to T-Mobile, because they've done it again. T-Mobile's hosted a large-scale karaoke event in Trafalgar Square hosted by presenter Vernon Kay attracting an estimated 13,500 people, and included a guest appearance from popstar Pink.

The ad (see above) including The Beatles' Hey Jude and Britney Spears' Baby One More Time, was aired during last night's Britain's Got Talent with a longer version available on the T-Mobile 'Life is for sharing' YouTube Channel. For anyone interested on how it was put together, Campaign have put together a behind the scenes video (below).

Unfortunately I couldn't go down on the day and had to see the event unfold on Twitter (Which in itself was a pretty weird experience, with roughly 2-3 updates every 5 seconds... see chart below).

The experience was also captured by the blogging community with the first one I noticed from Nick viewed here. I was also wondering whether anyone was actually lucky enough to see themselves in the ad last night? Or any thoughts on how they felt about the event itself?

T-Mobile Flashmobbing - Trafalgar Square chosen for next Advert

Firstly... no this is not a joke... Today will see an army of people congregate in London's Trafalgar Square for another taste of the Liverpool Street T-Mobile 'Life's For Sharing' Flashmob. The video trailer for the event due to be held at 6pm - 7pm Today (April 30th 2009), was posted on T-Mobile's YouTube channel on Sunday 26th April, and is swiftly making its way around the web, entitled 'T-Mobile's Next Event - Trafalgar Square' (shown below).

I am however a bit scepticle of how this will be received, not because their last dance was only 3 months ago (I mean that was fantastic), but mainly because there seems to have been a lot of copycat attempts in the meantime which may have stolen T-Mobile's thunder (Such as the below for example). I'm sure it will be great, and lead to some great work off the back of it, but I can't help but think that we're not thirsty enough for a repeat just yet.

T-Mobile - Flashmobbing Liverpool Street Advert

Better late than never, and I really have been waiting for the opportunity to post this, so here it is. Last Friday 16th January saw the latest advert for T-Mobile which was filmed and on air, in less than 48 hours (very impressive by no means when you think about the planning which must have been involved). The ad saw 350 dancers performing at London's Liverpool Street Station in front of the regular footfall of commuters, and aired during the entire ad break in 'Celebrity Big Brother' on Channel 4.

The three-minute guerrilla ad titled 'Dance' is supported by a T-Mobile 'Life's for sharing' YouTube channel which includes the advert, behind the scenes footage, and audition footage as well as a chance to view the new G1 mobile phone of course.

Although this is not the first time flashmobbing has been carried out as part of a guerrilla-style campaign, it works well, and is always refreshing to see. Other examples include the Lastminute.com guerrilla viral campaign which was carried out at Stansted Airport in May 2008 (Shown below).
