Now I know I have recently cited an example of activity from the latest 'Angels will fall' Lynx campaign, and do not mean to 'harp' on about it, however this is a fantastic recent example of engaging an audience through augmented reality. The video explains it all, but I really like the way this naturally involves passers by to watch and get involved.
Video - Lynx Excite Angel Ambush London Victoria
The video is explained in further depth on their Facebook page, took place on the 5th March at London Victoria Station, with further activity which happened in Birmingham Bullring 19th & 20th March 2011. Further Pictures below.

MINI Vending Machine - Mobile Shortcode Building Projection
Now this may not be particularly new or ground breaking, but is still an extremely cool execution from Canada. The passerby texts their chosen car from the projection shown which is then deposited in the tray beneath, with each MINI displaying its own unique exhibition (Shown in the video below).

Step Up to The Mic - Joint Venture Between Myspace and Titan Outdoor
Once again Outdoor refuses to lay down and admit defeat in the face of the fact that the online revolution is here, in another example which truly demonstrates that the two media can work as one. In a fantastic example by Titan and a three-week joint promotion with MySpace, called 'Step Up to the Mic', we see users stepping onto their soapbox and showing off their vocal power across 300 digital screens in the U.S, U.K and Ireland.
By visiting the “Step Up to the Mic” page on MySpace users can upload up to 50 characters of text and an image, and share their thoughts, messages, and best wishes to their mates or family members. As well as this using the pull of Myspace, a host of celebrities and music artists will be invited to communicate with fans, expressing all the things they are passionate about.
I actually do quite like this idea, which I really do think moves things in the right direction, reading some of the comments it does seem to be a real mixed bag, however Myspace does shine in its own individualism and non-conformity which I do think is quite endearing... if not completely my bag.

Wispa Gold Outdoor messages Campaign
To celebrate the return of the Wispa Gold, Cadbury has launched a new campaign dedicating £2m of media space to all those who adore the chocolate bar (and as we have seen from previous campaigns there are quite a few of them). As a further 'Thank You' to all of their supporters there will be a chance for fans messages to be featured on one of over 1,000 poster sites across the UK, with a website set up for people to note their message. The website is www.wispagoldmessages.com for all of those interested and the closing date is 3rd October.
It is also worth mentioning that to launch the campaign Rolf Harris has designed his very own billboard (on 15th September), submitted by one of the earlier winners, at Old Street roundabout on (shown below).
A great idea i think, and a very nice continuation of their ongoing use of the viral admiration of the brand. Once again I really like the way that it's impactful without being too in-your-face, and really gives the fans and supporters of the brand a chance to get involved. I think this is most evident by the amount of use people have already got out of the site, and the way in which the idea has been received!

'Going Google' Campaign
So what do you get when you pick a fight with Google? Well I think Microsoft are about to find out! Aside from the below billboards which is part of a new 'Going Google' campaign designed to show everyone of the benefits of using Google apps over Microsoft Office, there will also be a letter writing campaign and hashtag assult via @Googleatwork to boot.

Westfield: Interactive Outdoor iPhone ads
Shoppers at London shopping centre Westfield will soon have the chance to interact with advertising on digital LCD screens via their iPhones, which are connected via WiFi or 3G.
The technology developed by digital creative agency Clusta in partnership with CBS Outdoor to develop a new ad platform showcased yesterday at the Media Playground conference and exhibition in London.
As reported in Campaign by swiping on the iPhone’s touchscreen, users can make the object in the digital poster spin left or right, or even make the display change colour. Also by using the 'pinch' and 'stretch' finger gestures on the iPhone, consumers will be able to zoom in or out of the object displayed on the screen.
Apparently this will be rolled out according to advertiser demand, however despite the hit the retail industry has suffered in recent months, in a stylish environment such as the Westfield Centre I can image plenty of brands showing an interest.

Google Streetview Guerrilla ads Amsterdam
Google has claimed the streets of Amsterdam in order to promote the functionality of their Google Street view application. The activity (shown below) consist of stencils on the streets and Outdoor posters in bus stops where people can see how it all works. The activity promotes the Street view service in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Groningen, which launched roughly the same time as it did here in the UK (March 2009).

One more quick note for all of those curious, whilst on the subject of Amsterdam and Google Street View... yes you can view the famous Red Light District (Redlight District Amsterdam on Google Street View).

OK so how do you demonstrate the lifelike clarity of Sky HDTV? Well creating a guerrilla 'channel hopping' experience for everyone at Sao Paulo Airport might do it. A nice example of doing something a bit out of the ordinary in a public space.

TimeToConsider.co.uk - Mysterious Poster Campaign hits the Capital... again!
This is a slightly random one for me, mainly because I'm not a huge fan of surprises. This latest mystery outdoor campaign of which all agencies involved are apparently sworn to secrecy (according to Twitter) is no different, and although I'm sure it will drive us all crazy, will, like the Times 'Mystery Black Poster Campaign', get us all blogging and tweeting like no-bodies business. The posters consist of some rather stunning although controversial images (shown below), with a very 'Dove' (Unilever rather than the bird) like question posed to the onlooker. Directing people simply to the website 'www.timetoconsider.co.uk' when they are greeted with further images, and an opportunity to comment with their views.
Time to consider - Hunting 'Birthright or Brutality?'
Time to consider - Chickens 'Justifiable Cruelty?'
Time to consider - Old Man 'Pity or Pitiful?'
Time to consider - Tanks 'Deterrent or Provocation?'
It will be interesting to see once again how this plays out, especially as every day more and more of us are becoming further established within the blogging and social communities of which we integrate within our everyday routine, as well as the tools and services available to us to help us do this. Will this create the same stir as the Times campaign did? I don't know, but it will be fun finding out.

Audi Vs. BMW Tactical Outdoor Campaign
This is a brilliant tactical execution from the US which saw an ad targeting BMW, completely stopped in its tracks by a speedy response by BMW. Santa Monica advertising agency, Juggernaut Advertising, initiated a tactical outdoor marketing campaign on behalf of BMW Santa Monica, in response an Audi A4 outdoor campaign challenging BMW with the headline “Your move, BMW.”
As shown in the picture above, BMW SM promptly showed their response to the ad with their BMW M3 creative featuring the headline “Checkmate.” This is a very nice example of tactical advertising, which has certainly gained a bit of additional coverage off the back of it. There is video below showing a little bit more, for those interested

WWF - Coins Outdoor campaign
This is a fantastic campaign I stumbled across today by the WWF in Brasil, raising donations in a rather innovative and different way. The magnetic posters were placed across Cinemas, Gyms, and Reception areas in company buildings, and relied on a paint by numbers type method of placing certain coins on the highlighted positions to reveal the hidden creature.

FIVE USA turns Oxford Street tube into Time Square subway
As part of a launch campaign for new TV channel FIVE USA, Oxford Street tube station has been transformed into Time Square subway station, with every cross track poster reflecting the platform of the famous New York City subway.

I really like the way this station domination has been executed, and it is pretty impactful, especially on the new cleaner CBS Outdoor formats. Even the XTP (Cross track projectors) were used as part of the placement bringing these two bustling iconic stations together, playing a similar version of the below video.

Oohgle mystery posters hit the UK
Do you Oohgle? Do you even know what oohgling is? Well neither did I, until I started my online search the same way the majority of the online world now does as a matter of course… through a search engine. Upon typing Oohgle into Google, I was introduced to a PPC advert asking me if I’d seen the ad, and to click through if I wanted to find out more.
Oohgle is apparently the term coined for those of us which see an out-of-home advert, and follow it up with an online search (as most of those visiting the site would have done). The site put together by Posterscope, promoting their Prism Search tool, goes on to explain everything, and there is an optional short survey to enter a competition.
This piece of research will probably make its way to the agency world soon, and I’m hoping will give us some insightful knowledge of the way out-of-home is evolving people’s brand journeys and experiences. One of our increasing challenges as planners is accountability, and any research showing how media can work together is very welcome.

JCDecaux and Sky launch Outdoor News Channel
It was announced yesterday on the JCDecaux website that they have joined forces with Sky News to bring London commuters the latest news on their way to work via their PrimeTime network.
As of yesterday 18th November the 16 digital billboards, making up the PrimeTime network around London, will be able to provide the latest headlines, business news, sport, show business and weather, with content updated via a live data feed.
According to the article ‘55% of London’s commuters still travel to work by car’, presenting an excellent opportunity to for JCDecaux to reach them with relevant content. This is a brilliant idea, drawing on the strengths of outdoor as a media channel, and more importantly the new advantages that PrimeTime has demonstrated.
Digital as we all know is revolutionising advertising, across all media channels, and with the attraction of Transvision in our train stations over the years proving that this can work, I can’t see why this would not be successful on the roadside.

Could this be the future of Instore Advertising?
An interactive Mirror may seem like a pretty pointless gimmick, and that is certainly the the way this is being perceived by many of the viewers leaving comments on YouTube, but i think there are far more uses for this if handled correctly.
As you will see from the video, the technology introduced to us by Lit Studios relies on the person in front of the mirror interacting or playing with what is on the screen, which surely means that if there could be a message which is not blocking the reflection, then this could be a very clever advertising tool.
Imagine a changing room with a mirror which allowed you to view products from the store without leaving the cubicle, or interact briefly with an iTunes like application, maybe even entering your details for a competition or discount coupon. The ideas seem endless, and with the fact that the consumer is already in front of your ad then surely this begins to be very exciting concept.
