Tomorrow (Saturday 30th May) sees the start of the 2009 British & Irish Lions Rugby tour of South Africa, and so this week has seen the release of a brilliant series of ads by partner HSBC. The ads sees the players taking it in turns to train the lions of the Savannah in the skills they would need on the pitch, passing, tackling etc (seen below).
The ads featured in this week's BestadsonTV podcast, follows the launch of HSBC's online campaign to promote and build support for its sponsorship earlier in the month. This involved an tool on the British and Irish Lions website that allowed fans to add their names to a giant Lions shirt that will be taken on tour with the team.
Enjoy!

Lastminute.com debut Mexican Wave Ad
OK, so a Mexican wave doesn't sound very enthralling, however this isn't any normal Mexican wave, this is a Lastminute.com Mexican wave using a run of three consecutive 60-second ads on ITV, Channel 4 and Five, due to start on Saturday night (28th February 2009) at 9.50pm. As you can see from the preview below, the ads will feature a Mexican wave of thumbs-up and viewers will be asked to follow the wave as it flows from ITV through to Five.
The great thumb wave will take viewers all over the world, and will challenge people to guess the number of thumbs they see in order to enter the online prize-draw. The website set up for the campaign is as follows http://goodstuff.lastminute.com, which will also feature the ads once aired.
This is a fantastic idea, and demonstrates a very well thought through creative and media execution. It has had significant media backing including digital outdoor, in order to generate enough buzz, and personally I cannot wait to see the result. Those times again are:
Saturday 28th February
ITV1 at 9:50pm
Channel 4 at 9:51pm
Five at 9:52pm
Update: To view the full ad - Lastminute.com Great Thumb Wave advert

Comparethemeerkat.com… or was that Comparethemarket.com you were looking for?
Kick starting 2009 in style, Compare the Market have launched a new campaign to liven up the aggregator market. The campaign sees Aleksandr founder of Comparethemeerkat.com explaining his dilemma, that people keep getting his site mixed up with Comparethemarket.com. Here is the TV execution, for those of you yet to see it, delivered entirely from Aleksandr’s perspective.
A full working site has also been set up to support any Compare the Meerkat traffic, with all the relevant info needed to satisfy any visitors to the site, with sponsored search activity also supporting any traffic wishing to visit the site. As well as the website itself, there has also been a Facebook page put together for any fans of Aleksandr.
This is an excellent way of differentiating the brand from other advertisers in a highly competitive market, and a great way of creating a buzz in what may be considered a low interest category.

Monster Munch Launch Retro ads as part of 'Find Our Monsters' campaign
Monster Munch the popular children's snack has gone back to its roots in a bid to relaunch the brand, and remind everyone just how great they were. The new campaign titled 'Find Our Monsters', invites the public to try and hunt down the three monsters, famed for their 80's ads, and appearances on the packets of the flavour of Monster Munch they represented (roast beef, pickled onion, and flamin' hot).
To support the 'Find Our Monsters' campaign Monster Munch have released a series of TV adverts featuring 80's children's TV legends appealing for the public to Find the Monster Munch Monsters. The TV stars include Timmy Mallett, Geoffrey Hayes from Rainbow, Funhouse presenter Pat Sharp, and Get Your Own Back host Dave Benson Phillips.
The lucky winner will earn themselves £5,000, with those taking part updated regularly by a Monster Munch 'Find Our Monsters' blog. Don't worry however, if your memory is not what it was, as Monster Munch have also created a YouTube Channel dedicated to the campaign, where we can view the 80's ads (below).
This is a brilliant way of reminding the public that the brand is as fun as we all remember, whilst allowing our nostalgic sides to run wild for a while. The different elements of the campaign work well with one another, and create a buzz around the activity.
